Gilles Cervara, Daniil Medvedev’s French coach who supports Spain in the European Football Championship, has spoken at the conclusion of training this Thursday, prior to the semi-final that will take place tomorrow against his pupil with Carlos Alcaraz. Ask. How do you face the Wimbledon semi-final?
Answer. I think a lot of things. First we have to be ready both on a tennis and mental level if we want to beat Carlos. It is a great challenge for us. We know that Daniil is qualified to do it.
Q. You were very honest last year when after losing to Alcaraz in the Indian Wells final you said that you had kicked your ass. Then they also lost the Wimbledon semi-final in three sets. What are you going to do differently this time?
R. Every time you lose to someone, you analyze the reasons and that’s what we’ve done. We have played six times and we have seen them. Also last year’s semi-final here. I’m not going to say why we lost those games. It was a matter of details and we have worked to correct some things. We are going to try to make Carlos’s game uncomfortable.
Q. How have you seen Alcaraz so far in the tournament?
R. He has had tough games and that tells us that you can push him to the limit and also that he is very difficult to win because he always finds a way to come back and win. That’s why it’s so difficult to beat him.”
