Un young tennis player of 9 years of the Alderley Edge Tennis Club of Cheshire (Gran Bretaa) has been suppressed and banned from participating in LTA tennis tournaments after beat a 57 year old player.
Yannick Mendler-Jackson beat Gavin Smith 6-1, 6-3, but his victory was removed from the Lawn Tennis Association records.
The newspaper The Sun informs that ‘Lawn Tennis Association’ establishes that only players born on December 31, 2010 or before can play in its competition.
The LTA maintains that its age eligibility rules in its National League are designed to protect young players and manage their development.
Andrew Jackson, father of young Yannick Mendler-Jackson, shared in the British tabloid that his son was “devastated” when he was told the news.
What happened to the ‘if you’re old enough, you’re good enough’ approach
“What happened to the ‘if you’re old enough, you’re good enough’ approach? We should be promoting tennis and developing youth talent, not doing everything we can to turn away kids,” reflects the father of the 9-year-old tennis player.
Erasing your achievements from the records because of your age is a shame
“To erase his achievements from the records because of his age is a shame,” denounces Andrew Jackson in words he publishes Stephen Moyes.
Meanwhile, Yannick Mendler-Jackson’s parents are considering moving to South Africa or Germany so that their son can grow as a tennis player away from the strict tennis rules of the LTA.
