Daniil Medvedev, despite the fact that last year he won the title at the Masters 1000 in Rome, he maintains his love-hate relationship with clay. Perhaps that is why matches are never scheduled for him on the Philippe Chatrier court.
Medvedev, who reached the quarterfinals in 2021, this Monday became the first of the ‘top5’ to fall out of the individual draw at Roland Garros. He lost in the round of 16 with Alex de Miaur, 4-6, 6-2, 6-1 and 6-3. The Russian, of course, improved the first round of the last edition and is now fourth in the ranking because Alexander Zverev defends the 2023 semifinals.
De Miaur continues a brick dust tour in which he surpassed Rafael Nadal in the God and reached the Monte Carlo quarterfinals against Novak Djokovic.
