Builders are putting their finishing touches on obstacles for the annual Beast on the Bay challenge.

Over 1,000 participants from 23 states and Canada will be gathering Saturday morning to go head-to-head for 10 miles.

This event is the organization’s largest fundraiser of the year, benefiting services for children and adults with disabilities served by the institute.

Organizers said they are still in need of volunteers and there’s time to sign up.

“Specifically parking volunteers and obstacle monitors that are on the beach of Presque Isle you can register online at BarberBeast.Org or you can stop by tomorrow at the registration tent. there’s a volunteer registration tent as well where you’ll be able to sign up for one of those spots,” said Lauren Harrington, marketing specialist for the Barber National Institute.

If you’d like to cheer on your favorite participant, the challenge begins at 8:30 a.m.
