Just when you thought you’d seen it all, Mother Nature will still find a way to surprise you. A vacation photo of a unique rock formation taken near the Yangtze River in China has been dubbed “Puppy Mountain” on the Internet. It has become a viral sensation in China that is quickly spreading.
When you take a look at this photo for yourself, you will see that this one-of-a-kind cliff face along the river does indeed resemble the face of a puppy.
Well, now we have really seen everything, LOL.
It almost looks like a puppy resting its head. It’s a pretty uncanny sight, to be sure.
Obviously, the Internet had plenty to say about this one. A few people joked that “Puppy Mountain” was actually Clifford. Good one, LOL!
Other people had a hard time spotting the dog likeness in the photo.
Fortunately, Instagram user bellevillegirl was able to point it out in their comment when they wrote, “That kinda oval-ish dark spot is the right eye. It is like looking at the side of the face resting down on something. Not a whole puppy. The tip of the lower rock is the nose.”
‘Puppy Mountain’
According to a report from the Associated Press, this photo was taken by Guo Qingshan, a Shanghai-based designer. Last month, Guo visited central China and took this photo along the Yangtze River.
A while later, he was reviewing some of the photos from his trip when he noticed that this oddly shaped mountain actually resembled a dog’s head resting on the ground with its snout touching the water’s edge.
Guo told the Associated Press, “It was so magical and cute. I was so excited and happy when I discovered it.”
The designer added, “The puppy’s posture is like it’s drinking water, or it’s looking at some fish. It also looks like it’s quietly protecting the Yangtze River.”

Guo posted his “Puppy Mountain” photo on the Chinese social media site RedNote, where it garnered 120,000 likes within a week and a half. According to the report, Guo’s photo has gotten millions of views.
Since he posted this photo on Valentine’s Day, it’s become a viral sensation, with many people going to this exact spot on the Yangtze River to see “Puppy Mountain” for themselves. Unsurprisingly, many people have also gone to this location to take pictures with their dogs.
Some people have even posted pictures of their canine companions, with many people comparing their dogs to see which of them most closely resembles “Puppy Mountain.”
