The Turkish Foreign Ministry has called the killing in the Iranian capital Tehran of top Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh a “despicable attack.”
The ministry accused Israel of wanting to expand the war against Hamas in Gaza to the entire region.
Turkey maintains good relations with the Palestinian militant group.
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan met Haniyeh in Istanbul as recently as April.
