A rocket fired from Gaza hit a house in the Israeli border town of Sderot on Monday, while another projectile was intercepted by air-defence systems and a third landed in an uninhabited area, the Israeli military said.

There were no immediate reports of injuries.

There has been an uptick recently in rocket fire from the Gaza Strip, where Israeli forces have been fighting Palestinian extremists since the attack on October 7, 2023, that left more than 1,200 people dead in Israel and another 250 people taken hostage.

The Hamas-controlled health authority in Gaza says more than 44,850 people have been killed and 109,000 injured in the Palestinian territory by Israel so far.
