Thousands of protesters heeded a call from the “Never Again War” initiative to march through central Berlin on German Unity Day.

They held up banners calling for diplomacy instead of war and for a halt to arms deliveries to Ukraine. Many marchers waved flags with the dove of peace. They converged on the Victory Column in central Berlin from three directions.

No noteworthy incidents were reported by the city’s police, which deployed around 1,000 officers to monitor the protest. Police estimated the number of marchers at around 10,000, while the organizers said there were 30,000.

Marchers on one of the routes expressed solidarity with people in the Gaza Strip, holding up placards calling for an “end to the occupation terror” and “NATO pushes War and Genocide – Solidarity with Donbas and Gaza.
