Two members of Hamas’ military wing have killed an Israeli hostage, a spokesman for the militant Islamist organization said on Monday.

Two other hostages were injured, according to Abu Obaida, a member of the al-Qassam Brigades. The acts were “a reaction to the Israeli crimes against the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip,” he said.

The Israeli military said it was unable to confirm or refute the information and that Obaida’s statement was being examined.

Since the attack by Hamas terrorists on Israel last October, which left more than 1,200 dead, dozens of people are still being held by the group.
