One person was killed on Saturday in an Israeli attack in southern Lebanon, state media and the Israeli army reported.
The Lebanese news agency NNA reported, citing the Ministry of Health, that two people were also injured in the attack on a car near the town of Bazourieh in southern Lebanon.
But the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said that the army “eliminated the terrorist Ali Nazih Abed Ali, a significant terrorist on the Hezbollah Southern Front, in the area of Bazouriyeh in southern Lebanon,” earlier on Saturday.
“Abed Ali was involved in the terror activity of the Southern Front, planning and carrying out various terror activities. Abed Ali’s elimination represents a significant blow to the capabilities of the Southern Front and to the Hezbollah terrorist organization in the area,” the IDF said.
Hezbollah also confirmed his death, but gave no details of his rank or function.
The Israeli attack was in retaliation for an attack by the pro-Iranian Shiite militia earlier on Saturday on northern Israel.
The situation in the Middle East has recently become significantly worse.
After the targeted killings of Hezbollah military commander Fuad Shukr and Hamas chief Ismail Haniyeh, Hezbollah chief Hassan Nasrallah has vowed revenge.
Since the outbreak of the Gaza war, there has been daily shelling between Hezbollah and the Israeli military, leading to fatalities on both sides.
