LEBANON, Pa. (WHTM) — The Lebanon VA Medical Center welcomed a special guest — an old friend to many veterans, per se.
A UH-1 Huey helicopter arrived at the hospital and is perhaps the best-known aircraft used in the Vietnam War.

It has been restored and is now used to honor veterans and educate the public on the role it played in Vietnam.
“And if you were in Vietnam, you probably flew at least one flight, even if you were a cook or mail clerk,” Martin Kleiner, a retired colonel and member of the Liberty War Birds said. “This was your lifeline. It put you into combat. It replenished you while in air, and it took you out when it was time to come out.”
“If you were wounded, this was going to get you to the hospital,” Kleiner said.
The Huey was restored by the non-profit Liberty War Birds, based at the Lancaster Airport.
