The Hamas-run health authority in Gaza on Monday published a list of names of almost 35,000 Palestinians killed since Israel launched its military operation in the territory last October.

A total of 34,344 casualties are named in the 649-page list, which counts victims killed up to late August and does not distinguish between fighters and civilians.

The first 14 pages of the document deals with 710 victims under a year old.

Overall, 11,355 children and adolescents under the age of 18 are listed, while the oldest casualties recorded are two men aged 100 and 101 years old.

The war in Gaza was triggered by the unprecedented October 7 attacks by the Palestinian militant group Hamas and other extremists.

Some 1,200 people were killed in Israel and 250 hostages taken to Gaza.

Israel’s military response has provoked enormous international criticism due to high civilian casualties and the catastrophic humanitarian situation in Gaza.

The latest count by the Gaza health authority suggests more than 41,200 Palestinians have been killed in the conflict.

Israel claimed last month that it has killed more than 17,000 terrorists in the coastal strip. The figures cannot be independently verified.
