The German Embassy in Seoul does not currently see any immediate danger for foreigners following the imposition of martial law in South Korea.
“As things stand, it is not yet possible to foresee what restrictions this decision will impose on foreign nationals in the Republic of Korea. In our estimation, there is no immediate danger to the personal safety or property of foreign nationals,” the embassy wrote in a message to Germans living in South Korea.
There are no signs of a military conflict with North Korea, it continued.
However, it is recommended that people stay away from government buildings, the National Assembly and demonstrations.
