The European Commission is to provide Ukraine with a new loan of up to €35 billion ($39 billion), European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen announced in Kiev on Friday.

“Relentless Russian attacks means Ukraine needs continued EU support,” von der Leyen wrote in a post on X.

“This is another major EU contribution to the Ukraine’s recovery,” she added.

Von der Leyen made the announcement while visiting Kiev for a meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.
