Dutch authorities will arrest Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu if he enters the territory of the Netherlands, Foreign Minister Caspar Veldkamp told parliament in The Hague.
The Netherlands, as party to the Rome Statute establishing the International Criminal Court (ICC), would carry out the arrest warrant issued by the court based in The Hague, Veldkamp said.
The same applied to Israeli former defence minister Yoav Gallant and Hamas military head Mohammad Diab Ibrahim Al-Masri, better known as Mohammed Deif, Veldkamp said. The ICC has also issued arrest warrants for their arrest.
The ICC has issued the warrants based on alleged war crimes and crimes against humanity committed in the Gaza Strip since October 8, 2023.
Parties to the Rome Statute are obliged to implement arrests ordered by the ICC.
