SHREVEPORT, La. (KTAL/KMSS) – A cool and quiet weather pattern is taking shape through at least Thursday. We will have typical January temperatures for most of the week, but confidence is very high another Arctic cold front will arrive by the weekend.

For your Monday, sunrise temperatures will be in the 30s and 40s, likely freezing north of I-30 where we still have some snow and slush on the ground, so be on the lookout for black ice in McCurtain, Howard, and Sevier counties.

A north breeze will funnel cooler air into the region today. After reaching the low 60s on Sunday, we’ll roll it back into the 40s and low 50s this afternoon. It won’t be windy, but it will be breezy with gusts out of the northeast up to 15 miles per hour throughout the day.

Expect a slow warming trend this week that will eventually carry us back into the 60s on Thursday and Friday. We’ll have several partly to mostly cloudy days, but no rain until Friday/Saturday at the earliest.

Forecast models are in strong agreement that another Arctic cold front will move into the region this weekend. Highs are likely to fall back into the 30s and 40s in the January 19th – 22nd window (Sunday – Wednesday). As of now, the threat of winter weather looks low during this cold stretch, but there is plenty of time for that to change so keep up with the forecast again this week!
