Planes are continuing to land and take off at Beirut airport, despite explosions from Israeli air attacks that could be seen from the airport grounds, videos circulating on social media showed on Thursday.
Acting Transport Minister Ali Hamieh reported that normal operations were continuing at the airport.
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) had earlier advised residents in neighbouring areas to evacuate.
Israeli forces also attacked targets in other parts of the country, with Lebanon’s official National News Agency (NNA) reporting attacks near the Litani River in the south of the country.
IDF ground troops had opened fire with machine guns around Naqoura in the far south, and there had been fighting with Hezbollah fighters in other villages in the region, NNA reported.
The IDF reported killing around 60 members of the Iran-backed Hezbollah militia in the Bekaa Valley in the east of the country. The information could not be independently verified.
