(PINPOINT WEATHER) — The Arctic blast is here!

This week (especially early this week), we’re experiencing the coldest air of the season so far. Cold Weather Advisories are in effect through early Tuesday morning, and will likely be extended into Wednesday as well. Lows will fall into the single digits in the mountains, with teens across the Piedmont. Breezy conditions early Wednesday will make it feel even colder!

Protect people, pets, pipes and plants in this dangerous cold this week.

MORE TO KNOW | Latest on Arctic blast and Charlotte snow chance

The chance of sub-freezing temps is high, but the chance of any snow is low for our area Tuesday. While areas in the eastern Carolinas could get several inches, some of our area will only see a dusting to an inch, and that’s mainly south and east of Charlotte. Flurries are possible elsewhere. Still, with any little bit of moisture and temps below freezing, we’ll have to watch for slick areas on roads developing Tuesday evening and through Wednesday morning.

The rest of the week looks mostly dry. Temperatures will start to moderate late this week, with mid-50s returning by Sunday.

Tonight: Scattered clouds, frigid! Low 16.

Tuesday: Mostly cloudy and cold. Snow possible starting late afternoon. High 33.
