ELMIRA, N.Y. (WETM) — To package and wrap gifts for thousands of children in Chemung County, the Arctic League is gearing up with the help of hundreds of volunteers to spend nearly two weeks bagging and organizing those gifts.
Starting on Friday, Dec. 6, volunteers will gather at the Arctic League Headquarters at 249 W. Clinton St. in Elmira to pack around 125 bags of gifts for families in need.

Each packing night will start at 6:30 p.m., with the official packing beginning at 7 p.m. when volunteers join Artic League Board Members. The packages are bagged and organized with the whole process only taking around an hour each night, according to the Arctic League.
Volunteer groups have already been pre-selected with each group knowing its packing date.

Once all the backs are packed they’re organized by zip code to ensure efficiency when delivered on Christmas Eve. More information about the delivery process will be available closer to Christmas.
