ELMIRA, N.Y. (WETM) — You might be able to help an Elmira charity if you’re willing to part with a Christmas tree growing on your property.

The Arctic League is looking for a Christmas tree for its annual telethon. The tree will adorn Mandeville Hall’s stage at the Clemens Center during the charity’s broadcast on Sunday, Dec. 1, and be decorated with ornaments donated by the former Christmas House store. The person or organization that donated the tree will be recognized during the telethon.

The tree should be between 10 and 12 feet tall and must be located within Chemung County. Those who are interested in donating a tree that meets the criteria should contact Arctic League Board Member Tom Seem by calling 202-253-3207 or emailing tomseem@gmail.com and giving a description of the tree, the tree’s location, and their phone number.

All tree nominations must be made by Nov. 15. The Arctic League’s Broadcast Committee will review the nominations on Nov. 18, and the selected tree will be cut down and taken to the Clemens Center on Nov. 25.
