At least 10 Palestinians were killed and dozens more were injured in Israeli airstrikes on the city of Deir al-Balah in the centre of the Gaza Strip, the official Palestinian WAFA news agency reported on Saturday.
The attack targeted the municipality building, which was sheltering displaced persons, the WAFA report said. The injured were ferried to the Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital. The mayor of Deir al-Balah is reported to be among those killed.
The information could not immediately be verified. The Israeli military said it was checking the report.
Separately, WAFA reported that seven people had been killed when Israeli forces attacked a former school building in Gaza City.
The Hamas-controlled health authority in the region reported that 55 Palestinians had been killed by Israeli action over 24 hours. More than 44,900 people have been killed since the start of the current war in October last year, it said.
