The Central Complutense Stadium in Madrid witnessed the first edition of the Orsi Rugby Trophy. The event seeks to strengthen cultural and sporting ties between Spain, Italy and France. It is promoted by Rugby Orsi Italiani Di Madrid and sponsored by the Italian Embassy.
The tournament was contested by four teams.: the Liceo Francés Rugby Club, the Cisneros Rugby Club, Hermo Soto del Real as winner of the regional league of the Community of Madrid and, finally, the Lupi team of the Lazio Committee of the Federation n Italian Rugby.
In the semifinals the Wolves faced the French Lyceum with victory for the first team (56-0) and Cisneros against Hermo Soto del Real, regional champion of Madrid, (15-10). In the final, the Lobos, led by their captain Andrea Chianucci, beat Cisneros 38-7 and were proclaimed champions. The match for third and fourth place went to the Liceo Francés by 20-0.
The Wolves are a selection of young promises of Italian rugby sub’23which now represent only the Lazio region, and which debuted precisely in Madrid on the occasion of the first edition of the Orsi Trophy.
