Cwith an impeccable second half Dogos XV became champion of the S�per Rugby Am�ricas 2024 by defeating Pampas by 37-23. It was the fifth victory of Dogos about Pampas in six official matches and allowed the Córdoban team to shake off the pain of the defeat in the 2023 final, when they lost to Pe�arol in Montevideo by 23-17.
The first half was even, it began with Dogos in attack adding to it through a successful hit by Julián Hern�ndez. Empat� Joaqu�n De La Vega Mend�a three minutes later. He continued with a Dogos test using line and maul supported by AItor Bildosolato which Pampas responded with another equal one, supported by Javier Corval�n. With both converted the score was 10-10.
Pampas was able to take the lead for the first time with another blow, at 24 minutes. Lautaro’s warning Sims A minute later it opened a door for Pampas since Dogos was left with 14, but an attacking pass was intercepted by Valent�n Cabral, who ran more than 70 meters to reach the Pampas ingoal and support. The wrong conversion left things 15-13 for Dogos. Joaquín De La Vega Mend�a He hit another shot that allowed the local team to go into the break leading 16-15.
Such a tight first half gave the feeling that the game was going to be defined by the smallest details. And those details were the violations what Pampas committed, who gave Juan Bautista the opportunity Baroniothe same one that defined the pass to the final, of being the hero again, because of the six blows that he hit the sticks he hit cincoand led Dogos to 30-16.
To this we must add the great defending Cordoba, who won all the balls he fought on the ground in his field, the the firm in the melee, and some lines in which they were better. Each of these things, play after play, took Pampas off axis, who had the ball and I couldn’t find where to go. With 10 minutes left Dogos was left with 14 due to Leo’s warning Gea Salim, and even then Pampas couldn’t get into the game, because his nerves made him commit new infractions, with which Dogos went to the line, made run the clock and in the last of them through line and maul he achieved the match try that sealed the victory.
The final rehearsal of Pampas, when Dogos was already with his head in the closing, only served to to decorate the result and leave the doubt about whether the last conversion came in or not. The consultation with the referee cleared up the doubt and declared it valid, so the final result was 37-23 in favor of the new rugby champion in America.
