For the second consecutive year, football legends, celebrities and Rafa Nadal, the world idol who cradled the eastern part of the island of Mallorca, They come together again in ‘The Battle of Stars’, the charity tournament organized by the golf clubs of Son Servera and Pula to raise funds in the fight against ALS and multiple sclerosis.
The tennis player who has won 22 Grand Slams, who will only be able to support the tournament tomorrow at the gala dinner, heads a list that includes famous footballers such as the Argentine goalscorer Gabriel Batitusta, the Norwegian John Aarne Riise, champion of the Champions League with Liverpool; Mauro Tassoti, Roberto Donadoni, Julio Salinas, Pepe Reina, Marcos Alonso and Aritz Aduriz.
In addition, the singer David Otero, winner of the last edition, will participate; the presenter Veronica Mengod, Javier Clemente, Bernd Schuster, Albert Riera, Mateu Alemany, Alain Boghossian, Gerard L�pez, Pep�n Liria, Paco J�mez, Esteban Vigo, Miguel �ngel Nadal, Uli Stielike, Manu Trigueros, the professional golfer Noemi Jim�nez and the model Liz Emiliano. Among the handicaps, the Frenchman Boghossian, former footballer for Olympique de Marseille, Naples, Espanyol…, stands out above all, who has reached -2, a level to move to professionals.
Unzu�, master of ceremonies
Among those invited to the tournament is Juan Carlos Unzu�, the former goalkeeper who battles the disease for four years and which has become a national symbol in increasing support in the fight against the disease. The Navarrese will act as master of ceremonies.
The tournament will start this Thursday in Pula, the course designed by José María Olaz�bal, and will end at the Son Servera course, located on the Costa de los Pinos. l
