Ethe activist group ‘Just Stop Oil’known for throwing orange dust or paint to vindicate his actions, has staged a new protest, this time during the Travelers Championship golf tournament, part of the PGA Tour calendar. Let us remember that this group already made an appearance in during the British Open 2023and on that occasion the player Billy Horschel intervened, who ended up taking the activists to the police.
The appearance of the members of ‘Just Stop Oil’ occurred when the tournament was about to be decided. Scottie Scheffler and Tom Kim were playing for victory (Bathia, who was with them, no longer had any options) on the green of the 18th hole. They have just reached it, and several people ran to enter the field, one of them through a bunker.
They were barely able to stain a small area of the green with orange and white paint. The security forces acted very quickly and arrested the activists. The tournament continued and Kim forced a playoff, although once in sudden death Scottie Scheffler took the tournament on the first hole.
‘Just Stop Oil’ is a coalition of activist groups working together to ensure the UK Government commits to stopping fossil fuel production and new licences.
