The tournament took place in an excellent atmosphere during two days of intense competition at the Santander Championship Golf Course in Madrid in which five Spanish Golf Champions have been proclaimed, corresponding to each of the five official categories of the game. The first two categories played in Strokeplay format, while the remaining three played in Stableford.
The winner in the first category was Juantxo Elia. The former Osasuna goalkeeper totaled 144 hits, the pair of the field, to become the first winner in the history of the competition. The honor roll was completed by ‘Boquer�n’ Esteban, in the second category; Jesús Pastor (3�), Luis Milla Manzanares (4�) and David Lomb�n (5�).
“I have nothing but words of praise for everyone who has made this event possible and I hope that next year there will be many more of us because it is one of the best events I have been to,” commented Elia.
The awards ceremony was held in the Par 4 room of Golf Santander, where As�s de Bastida, director of Golf Santander; Ignacio Guerras, president of the Royal Golf Federation of Madrid and Fernando Escribano, vice president of the Luzín Foundation.
