DAfter three years of being played at Marco Simone, the 2023 Ryder Cup course, the Italian Open has moved from Rome to settle at the Adriatic Golf Club Cervia in Milan. In this new enclave, after two rounds, the 35-year-old American Gunner Wiebe is in command, with 133 hits. Behind him, the German Jannik de Bruyn, who took advantage of the afternoon to record a second consecutive 67. The Spaniard Adrian Otaegui, the Dane Sebastian Friedrichsen, the Swede Marcus Kinhult and the South African Brandon Stone are within two of the leader.

Otaegui from San Sebastián shot 69 in the second round, after his magnificent 66 on the first day. The ‘Pirate’ has just achieved tenth place in another classic on the European calendar, the KLM Open, and let’s remember that this year he won the Volvo China Open.

Otaegui is not the only well-placed Spaniard. Adri Arnaus is ninth with 137 in the accumulated score, although today he went up to par (71). Formidable Gonzalo Fernndez Castao in his second tournament of the year on the DP World Tour. Two 69s in a row also place him very well ranked with 138 overall. Ángel Ayora is at 139 and Manuel Elvira at 140. Pablo Larrazbal and Ángel Hidalo, 141.
