Eugenio Lpez Chacarra will finally make his debut in the Majors, after qualifying for the US Open, which will be played from June 13 to 16 on field 2 in Pinehurst (North Carolina). Chacarra will coincide, for the moment, with only one other Spaniard, Jon Rahm, winner of the tournament in 2021. He will be the sixty-ninth national golfer to play a major in their history.

Chacarra, who dominated during several moments of the day the classification held at the Dallas Athletic Club, finally shot 136 strokes between the two rounds of 18 holes that had to be completed, on the blue and gold courses, and was second, one stroke behind Colombian Nicols Echevarra, who led the list of 11 players who accessed the third major of the course this way. After an immaculate initial round of 66 strokes, only two bogeys in the last seven holes took him out of his mind.

The 24-year-old golfer from Madrid continues to progressively climb heights in his career. In 2022 he won the LIV Singapore tournament, last year he won an Asian Tour International in St. Andrews and now he reaches the first major of his career.

Sergio Garca, first reserve

Meanwhile, Sergio García, who had also shot 66 in the morning, stumbled on a par 5 -double bogey- and had to go with six other players to the playoff. There was only one left out and Borriol’s player made a bogey in the playoff which leaves him as the first substitute in this field, pending some mishap that leaves out one of the eleven qualifiers. Among those who passed was, among others, the Italian Francesco Molinari, winner of the British in 2018.
