It was last June 15 when Carlos Alcaraz settled in his house in Wimbledon, a few meters from the All England Club. It is the same one that saw him win the title last year.
With three floors, a basketball court, six rooms and a large garden, it allows all the members of his team to coexist. Six more people live next to the tennis player: his coach, Juan Carlos Ferrero; his agent at IMG, Albert Molina; his physiotherapist, Juanjo Moreno; his brother lvaro Alcaraz, who acts as his sparring partner; his doctor, Juanjo López and his physical trainer, Alberto Lled.
Lled and Lpez are the only two who share a room. Everyone does everything in the house and divides up the tasks. The first one up usually prepares breakfast. The tennis player decided yesterday to take the day off and be with his family at his residence where they have all the comforts.
They have breakfast and dinner within those four walls and usually have lunch at the All England Club. At night they order food at home, ranging from a Italian restaurant and another Japanese restaurant – both located in the Wimbledon neighborhood – and the Spanish Cambio de Tercio, which is based in the Chelsea neighborhood.
We send crispy salmon nigiris with a Spanish flavor for everyone, but in Carlos’s case they are gluten-free
“We send crispy salmon nigiris with a Spanish flavor for everyone and for Carlos we make them gluten-free. Also Galician blonde beef, lamb shank, Russian salad with prawns from Huelva…“says Abel Lusa, owner of Cambio de Tercio and which feeds racket professionals at the Australian Open and Queen’s.
Family and Nike support
Many nights Carlos Alcaraz Sr. and Toms Noguera, his cousin, join the large group to be all together and walk around the neighborhood. Accustomed to being in large hotels, their presence on the big grass helps to further foster team spirit.
During the El Palmar tennis player’s matches, They all wear personalized caps with two of Carlitos’ sponsors: Isdin and el Pozo. In the British tournament they use one white and one green interchangeably.
Also on the bench of the three-time major champion these days is the senior staff of Nike, an American company with which he has just renewed his contract.
The one who is directly in charge of the tennis player’s needs is Rubén Zrihen, the senior director of Tennis at the club company.. The organization of the British competition has once again moved Alcaraz to court 1 in his quarterfinal match with the American Tommy Paul.
The El Palmar player has two commitments outside the center, like the number 1, Jannik Sinner. The only one who does not move from the center is Novak Djokovic, who is looking for another miracle on the green.
