The 22-year-old son of a man recently found dead in the Gaza Strip, who had been kidnapped from Israel, is also no longer alive.

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said on Friday that it had informed the family after completing an investigation. The young Arab Israeli was killed while being held prisoner by Hamas.

On Wednesday, the IDF announced the discovery of the body of the 53-year-old father and also stated that discoveries related to his son raised “serious concerns” about whether he was still alive.

Until then, the military had assumed that both were still alive.

The men, who belonged to a Bedouin community, were abducted into the Gaza Strip during the Hamas massacre on October 7, 2023.

According to the IDF, both were alive at the time of the hostage-taking.

Two other children of the 53-year-old were also abducted at the time. The youths were released in November 2023 as part of a deal between Hamas and Israel.

The four were working in a kibbutz near the Gaza Strip border during the terrorist attack.

The Israeli military posted on X that the remains of the two men were recovered in a tunnel in the area of the city of Rafah in the south of the Palestinian territory and had been brought back to Israel.
