Germany’s Lufthansa Group of airlines announced in Frankfurt on Monday that it is to extend its suspension of flights to Tel Aviv’s Ben Gurion Airport up to December 15 on account of the continuing tense security situation in Israel.

The decision applies to the airlines Austrian, Swiss and Brussels. The core Lufthansa airline will not be flying to Israel at all this year for operational reasons, the company said.

The previous suspension had been due to last to November 25. Passengers hit by the cancellations will be able to book a later date free of charge or receive a refund.

Connections to Beirut are to remain suspended up to February 28 next year, and there will be no Lufthansa Group flights to Tehran up to January 31.
