I wore them nonstop for two weeks in Italy.
I’m a self-proclaimed shoe snob. I own well over 20 pairs of sneakers, and while I know nobody needs that many, they’re my go-to footwear for every outfit, even dresses. My collection is pretty extensive, but I gravitate toward my Adidas sneakers most often.
The latest addition to my footwear lineup is the Adidas Handball Spezial Shoes. While the style is reminiscent of the brand’s celeb-worn Samba style (which I also own), the Handball Spezials have taken the lead as the front-running sneaker in my closet for their comfort and classic look. Plus, they’re easier to find in stock compared to the often-sold-out Sambas.

Since most of my wardrobe is neutral, I opted for the Handball Spezial Shoes in the putty gray and red combo. They’ve added the perfect subtle pop of color to jeans, skirts, and dresses. This also isn’t my first pair of the’ 70s-inspired suede style.
Several months ago, I bought them in brown from the brand’s collaboration with Sporty & Rich. I instantly fell in love with the supportive shoes and knew I needed more colors. I couldn’t stop raving about how comfortable and versatile they were, and I even convinced my family members to purchase them. They were my go-to sneakers for a two-week trip to Italy, and my feet were never in pain.
The vintage-looking footwear features a suede textile upper and a durable gum rubber outsole that supports hours of walking. Unlike the Sambas, these shoes feature suede fabric on the tongue and heel. I often deal with rubbing and occasional blisters from long wear, but these are soft, comfy, and more flexible.
Shoppers agree that the sneakers are “very comfortable” and only take “one day to break them in.” Numerous reviewers also said they warrant non-stop compliments. Plus, they “provide amazing arch support” per one customer, while additional fans of the retro shoes echoed the same sentiment that they go “with everything.” And I agree. Even the red stripes on my pair act as a neutral that complements many other colors in my outfits.
