A 26-year-old man has been taken into custody on suspicion of killing a man at a refugee centre in the northern German city of Rostock, police said on Tuesday.

Both the victim and the alleged perpetrator are from Ukraine.

The public prosecutor’s office is examining an application for an arrest warrant, according to a spokeswoman for the authority.

A 46-year-old Ukrainian man died in the Elbotel accommodation on Monday. Police and first responders who arrived at the scene found evidence of a homicide.

Details about the nature of the injuries and a possible motive have not been shared by law enforcement.
