European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen is set to visit Poland’s flood-hit areas on Thursday at the invitation of Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk, the commission said on Wednesday.

Von der Leyen will visit “the area at risk in Wrocław to assess the situation created by the recent heavy floods and rains that have hit Poland,” a spokeswoman said in a press briefing.

Poland is one of several EU member states in Central and Eastern Europe grappling with the fallout from historic flooding since last weekend.

Czech Prime Minister Petr Fiala, Slovakian Prime Minister Robert and Austrian Chancellor Karl Nehammer are expected to join the meeting.
