Lebanon’s Health Ministry said Monday evening that the death toll from Israeli airstrikes has risen to 356 people, including 24 children, with another 1,246 wounded.

These are the deadliest Israeli attacks on Lebanon since the last major war between Israel and the Iran-aligned Hezbollah militia in 2006.

Israeli Defence Minister Yoav Gallant said the Israeli Air Force has “destroyed tens of thousands of missiles that threatened Israeli citizens” in the massive attacks against Hezbollah in southern Lebanon.

Hezbollah and Israel have been exchanging fire almost daily for about a year. About 150,000 people on both sides of the border have been forced to flee their homes.

The conflict intensified again last week after thousands of communication devices were detonated in Lebanon, killing more than 50 people, including civilians – plus an Israeli attack on the Hezbollah leadership near Beirut.
