Garbi�e Muguruzaexn�mero one of the world of women’s tennis, double champion of Grand Slamand removed from the slopes since April, has been designated director of the WTA Finals that bring together the eight best players of the season, and that will be played in Riad from November 2 to 9, according to what this organization told EFE.
Garbi�e, 30 years old, winner of Roland Garros in 2016 and Wimbledon in 2017 and Australian Open finalist in 2020, won the WTA Finals in 2021, a tournament that culminates each season with the presence of the most outstanding rackets of the course. Muguruza thus becomes the first former player who occupies this position in the prestigious event that he will perform during three years.
Starting with this 2024 edition, which will be held from November 2 to 9 with the eight best singles and the eight best doubles pairs, Muguruza will work for the WTA, in collaboration with the Saudi Tennis Federation and the Ministry of Sports to supervise the planning and staging of the event.

During her career Muguruza qualified for the WTA Finals in four times and won them in Guadalajara (Mexico) in 2021. Her victories at Roland Garros 2016 and Wimbledon 2017 made her the only player who defeated Serena Williams and Venus Williams in a major final. On September 11, 2017, Muguruza rose to number 1 WTA and maintained the first place for four weeks.
